AIDS Alabama provides a variety of HIV prevention education and outreach services in an effort to raise community awareness and prevent new HIV infections.

Mobile Testing Unit

AIDS Alabama’s Mobile Testing Unit (MTU) is the state’s first mobile HIV testing and outreach vehicle. The MTU enables our message of HIV prevention education to be truly mobile and reach those at risk where they live and work. The unit is equipped with two confidential HIV testing/counseling areas, a waiting area with a plasma television for viewing HIV/AIDS-related educational media, refrigerated storage space for HIV tests, and standard RV amenities including a bathroom and kitchen. The MTU enables AIDS Alabama’s Department of Prevention and Community Partnerships to expand HIV testing and prevention education efforts into communities that are underserved, and is utilized at a variety of events and outreach sites throughout the year.

If you are interested in having the Mobile Testing Unit at an upcoming event, please contact Ebony Blake, HIV Prevention Program Assistant, at (205) 918-8183.
